India's Abhishek hits fastest T20I hundred by batter from Test-playing nation

India's Abhishek Sharma struck the fastest T20I hundred by a batter from a Test-playing nation with a 30-ball effort against Afghanistan in Delhi.

Abhishek Sharma's hundred eclipses the 33-ball T20I centuries scored by Finn Allen of New Zealand and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza; Abhishek powers 11 sixes and nine fours against Afghanistan in Delhi; Rohit Sharma had hit India's previous fastest T20I ton, off 35 balls versus Sri Lanka

India's Abhishek Sharma struck the fastest T20I hundred by a batter from a Test-playing nation with a 30-ball effort against Afghanistan in Delhi.

Abhishek, who slammed 11 sixes and nine fours in his 108 from 34 deliveries, eclipsed the 33-ball centuries of New Zealand's Finn Allen and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza.

Allen's ton came against South Africa in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Kolkata earlier this year, with Raza's hundred hit against Gambia in in October 2024.

Having trumped Allen, Abhishek's hundred is also the quickest in a T20 international between two Test-playing countries.

The fastest men's T20I hundred was scored off 27 balls by Estonia's Sahil Chauhan, against Cyprus in 2024, with Muhammad Fahad doing so from 29 balls for Turkey against Bulgaria a year later.

Abhishek, whose innings powered India to 221-7, now has three T20 international tons, the third-most by an Indian after Rohit Sharma (5) and Suryakumar Yadav (4).

Rohit had hit India's previous fastest T20I century, from 35 balls against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.

Abhishek has notched an even speedier hundred in domestic T20 cricket, off 28 balls for Punjab against Meghalaya in 2024.

The quickest hundred in women's T20 internationals was scored by West Indies' Deandra Dottin - a 38-ball effort versus South Africa in St Kitts in 2010.
