Wakefield's Guler set to miss rest of play-offs with ban for punching

Wakefield prop Emre Guler is set to miss the rest of the Super League play-offs after being handed a two-match ban for punching.

The forward was sent off following a clash with Leigh's Owen Trout during Trinity's 26-16 victory over the Leopards in their eliminator last Friday.

The punishment was confirmed following a meeting of the Rugby Football League's match review panel on Monday.

Barring a successful appeal against the grade E offence, Guler will now miss Wakefield's semi-final against Wigan on Saturday and the Grand Final, if Trinity reach it.

Guler only joined Wakefield last month having brought forward his planned arrival from St George Illawarra Dragons from the start of the 2027 season.

Team-mate Mike McMeeken will be free to play after being fined following a grade B charge of dangerous contact against Leigh's David Armstrong in the same game.

Warrington's James Harrison was also fined following a grade C charge of head contact in the Wolves' win over Hull KR, which set up a semi-final at Leeds. Team-mate Luke Yates will face no further action over a grade A dangerous throw.

Hull KR centre Peta Hiku has also been banned for two matches for punching Warrington's George Williams but, with Rovers now out of the play-offs, his suspension will be served next season.
