Whisper it, but the UK’s path back to the EU is beginning to take shape
Kaja Kallas and Wes Streeting set the scene for a process of improving EU-UK relations on Monday. Their logical conclusion is the UK rejoining, some day.
It’s taken 10 years for the taboo about the UK rejoining the EU to be broken.
Listening to EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas and UK defence secretary Wes Streeting address reporters before an EU-UK defence and security dialogue in Brussels on Monday (2 November), was a bit like hearing regretful divorcees.
“There’s a lot of traumatised people in Brussels” from the Brexit process, said Kallas.
“There is no doubt that leaving the EU cost our economy and we’re not as strong as we might have been,” started Streeting.
