Franky Rizardo cancels Pete Tong remix collaboration following John Summit theft claim
Summit has accused Tong of "jacking" his work on a remix they worked on together for a release with Rizardo
Franky Rizardo has pulled his collaborative remix of Everything But The Girl’s ‘Missing’ with Pete Tong from release following claims from John Summit that parts of the track were stolen from him.
In a post shared on on X , Summit accused Tong abandoning a remix they had created together before opting to release a version of the track with Rizardo instead. According to Summit, the pair had discussed releasing the orchestral remix via Tong's FFRR label, even going so far as to discuss performing the track live. Tong allegedly went on to reuse elements of Summit's work in the new version with Rizardo.
Summit added: “I ended doing the whole orchestral version myself which I’m premiering this weekend... Thanks for zero help.”
Tong is yet to respond to the claims, but Rizardo has confirmed that his version of track will no longer be released, explaining on X: “It no longer feels right", while emphasising he was “not taking sides or blaming anyone.”
“After learning more today about the background surrounding this release, I’ve come to the conclusion that it no longer feels right for me to be part of it,” he continued. “For now, it’ll remain a set-only track.”
