Alabama Shakes have unveiled “I Feel Hope Coming,” the latest single their forthcoming album I Must Be Dreaming . Stream it below.
“I Feel Hope Coming” blends smooth acoustic and dreamy keys with atmosphere electric guitar and foundational bass, all saturated with vintage warmth, which lays a bed for Brittany Howard’s assured vocals. Her voice resonates like Nina Simone’s at moments as she makes a refrain of the words that give the song its title.
The song, a “understated anthem about choosing optimism and community in the face of an increasingly chaotic world,” will be the “emotional heart” of the forthcoming album, a press release said.
The trio of Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, and bassist Zac Cockrell recently announced their album, I Must Be Dreaming , Tuesday. The record, which will mark their first LP in 11 years, comes out August 28th on Island Records. The band released the lead single “American Dream” in April .
