Coming from Amazon MGM Studios, Peter Farrelly’s upcoming film I Play Rocky tells the true story of Sylvester Stallone’s struggle not only to get his breakout movie Rocky made, but also to play the lead. As seen in the first trailer, I Play Rocky star Anthony Ippolito ( The Offer ) nails both Stallone’s look and his unique voice. Watch it below.
In the official logline, I Play Rocky is described as “an electrifying true story about an unknown actor with an unshakable belief that he wasn’t just meant to write Rocky, he was meant to be Rocky Balboa. Told ‘no’ at every turn, Sylvester Stallone bets everything on himself, holding the line on playing the lead against seemingly impossible odds. The result is the ultimate underdog story behind the ultimate underdog movie.”
Directed by Farrelly from a script penned by Peter Gamble, I Play Rocky also stars Matt Dillon, AnnaSophia Robb, P.J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, Stephan James, and Kiki Seto. It will screen in theaters everywhere this November.
