Nico Stojan, German DJ and Bar 25 resident, has died
The veteran Berlin artist was also known for his work with labels SONARA and Ouïe
Berlin DJ and longtime Bar 52 resident Nico Stojan has died.
The news was confirmed by friends and family on Sunday (26th July) in a statement shared on Instagram . “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our dear Nico has passed. He was loving, warm-hearted, humorous, and full of compassion... His place in our lives and in our souls will always belong to him.”
No further details or cause of death has been disclosed at the time of writing.
Friends of Stojan have started a GoFundMe campaign , organised by Anastasia Goron, to support his family with funeral and memorial arrangements, as well as ongoing legal costs surrounding the protection of his art.
“[I]n the middle of the deepest grief, they are also facing everything that comes with a sudden loss: the funeral and memorial to honor him the way he deserves, the legal steps of caring for everything he leaves behind, and the work of protecting what he made, his music, his recordings, his unfinished projects, so that none of it is lost and his voice stays with us,” the GoFundMe description states. “They should not have to carry that weight alone. Not while their hearts are broken. And they don’t have to, because he had us.”

Born and raised in Berlin, Nico Stojan began DJing in the city’s underground clubs in the ’90s, before becoming a resident at Bar 52 during its 2003-2010 run and later taking on regular slots at Panorama Bar and Watergate.
In 2015, Stojan released his only solo album, ‘Twisted Manners’, before co-founding the Ouïe label with Acid Pauli in 2016. According to Electronic Grooves , Stojan was working on a follow-up album prior to his death.
Stojan was also closely involved with SONARA , a collective and label that has provided a platform for forward-thinking electronic music spanning house, ambient and experimental sounds.
