While several reliable outlets have reported that Yan Diomande’s signing by Real Madrid has been fully agreed, the official announcement has simply not arrived.

The situation, needless to say, forces one to believe that there are some finer details in the agreement that are yet to be finalised, thereby preventing the official announcement.

Some reports, however, have maintained constantly that the agreement has not been completed, and Florian Plettenberg is one such reputed journalist.

Once again, he has now provided an update explaining the current situation between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.

As relayed by the German journalist, Real Madrid are pushing to complete the Diomande deal with RB Leipzig before the Bundesliga side fly out for their pre-season campaign.

Leipzig are travelling to Austria on Saturday, and the intention is to close the deal before that.

Once again, the two clubs were involved in negotiations today to discuss the finer terms but an agreement has not been reached yet.

Currently, Diomande is in Leipzig and is staying professional and patient throughout the situation. He is awaiting the finalisation of terms.

Just as has been the case with updates on the deal itself, there have been conflicting reasons coming up for the announcement is being delayed.

Plettenberg, who has proven reliable in this transfer saga so far, claims it is the structure of variables that is hindering an agreement from being reached.

Leipzig are reportedly pushing for a higher fixed fee and variables that are easier to achieve compared to what Real Madrid are proposing.

Fabrizio Romano, however, claims that it is Leipzig’s search for a replacement that is delaying the agreement and that they will make it official once they have signed their backup.

In any case, what Real Madrid will be concerned with is completing the deal at the earliest, and negotiations in the coming hours will be crucial on that front.

After all, just over a day remain for the German side to fly out, and they will want the player travelling directly to Madrid given how advanced talks are.

Italian journalist Andrea Losapio has claimed on TuttoMercato (h/t Defensa Central ) that Real Madrid attempted to sign Marcelo Brozovic as a free agent after the Croatian midfielder’s contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr expired.

The 33-year-old attracted the interest of Jose Mourinho, who is said to have personally called the former Inter Milan star in an attempt to convince him to move to Spain.

Brozovic remains without a club and could now return to Italian football. According to the journalist, the midfielder has already rejected approaches from Trabzonspor and Monaco, while Fiorentina are continuing negotiations over a possible move.

“The midfielder also received a call from Jose Mourinho, who was trying to find a solution for him to play in Spain. However, no agreement was reached,” Losapio said.

If signed, Brozovic would have provided Mourinho with another option in midfield, particularly when it came to rotating the squad and controlling games from deeper positions.

It must be noted that Real Madrid had been searching for a midfielder of a similar profile all summer and had even come close to signing Rodri, who later chose to join FC Barcelona.

Brozovic would have offered experience, balance and control from the holding midfield position at Real Madrid.

At 33, the Croatian has enjoyed an outstanding career at the highest level, particularly during his time at Inter Milan, where he became an important figure over several seasons.

Despite his quality and experience, however, Real Madrid’s interest did not result in a deal.

Brozovic is still considering his next destination after leaving Al Nassr and has yet to make a definitive decision.

Fiorentina currently appear to be one of the strongest contenders for Brozovic’s signature. The Serie A club are continuing talks with the midfielder and hope to persuade him to return to Italy, although an agreement has yet to be reached.

As for Real Madrid, they decided against another midfield signing and are relying on Bernardo Silva as an option for the deep-lying playmaker role.
