Donald Trump has ordered that American flags be flown at half staff for a full week to honor the life and passing of Dolly Parton .

“Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away,” the President posted on Truth Social. “This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you. President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Trump previously offered to give Parton a Presidential Medal of Freedom twice, which she declined both times. She also politely refused the same offer from President Joe Biden.

Artists and musicians have been paying tribute to Parton, calling her “a true gift to humanity and the very best of us.” Revisit our cover story that saw Hayley Williams interview Parton.
