Olivia Rodrigo Launches Music Festival Daisy Chain Fields
The inaugural all-female lineup features Bikini Kill, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Stevie Nicks, Mitski, and many more
Olivia Rodrigo is launching Daisy Chain Fields, her very own music festival. The pop star revealed the news in Pitchfork’s latest zine , telling contributor Shaad D’Souza, “I actually feel like it’s my calling in some weird way. I…have had this dream to do this festival for a really long time.” Daisy Chain Fields will take place at Great Park on August 29 in Irvine, California; tickets go on presale this Wednesday, June 24 at 1 p.m. EDT.
Taking direct inspiration from Lilith Fair , the inaugural event features a lineup of only female artists or female-fronted bands, including Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Mitski, the Breeders, Garbage, Katseye, Santigold, and Rachel Chinouriri. The day will also include rising acts Not for Radio, Die Spitz, Quiet Light, and Eli, and special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan. Net profits from ticket sales are directed toward nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls, such as the Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood, and Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health. All of the artists have agreed not to take a profit from their performances. A full list of musicians and participating organizations can be found below.
Rodrigo tells D’Souza that she hopes Daisy Chain attendees will have the same experience Lilith fans had in the late ’90s. “I feel really connected to the young girls that come to my concerts, and the fact that I get to be in the fabric of their lives is a real, true honor that I don’t take lightly,” she says, adding, “I just feel like we need something really positive to do and see, and young girls need awesome role models who are supporting other women and who are engaging in something that’s really joyful and musical and community-oriented.”
