DJ Chloé Caillet signs with Ninja Tune for new EP
Electronic musician Chloé Caillet is transitioning from a touring DJ to a recording artist, signing her new EP to UK independent label Ninja Tune as her commercial reach expands into the European luxury fashion sector.
Electronic producer Chloé Caillet has partnered with UK independent label Ninja Tune for her upcoming EP, 'Dance Again'. The 34-year-old artist is currently playing a seven-date CircoLoco residency at Ibiza's DC-10, a venue where she has performed every summer for the past five years.
The six-track record marks a shift in Caillet's commercial operations. She initially planned to release the EP through her own company, SMIILE Records. However, she opted for Ninja Tune because the project's indie-dance style and use of her own vocals made it a natural fit for the British label's roster.
Caillet's career trajectory highlights the rapid revenue scaling possible within Europe's electronic music circuit. Earlier in her career, she recalled earning just $50 a show, paid in cash or cheque at the door. Since releasing her debut independent single in 2021, her live profile has grown to include major European institutions like Berlin's Berghain and London's fabric.
Her brand value now intersects directly with Europe's luxury economy. Caillet has regularly soundtracked post-runway parties for heritage brands including Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, and Burberry. Earlier this year, Saint Laurent tapped her to play its Met Gala Afterparty in New York, an event widely regarded as the most exclusive of the fashion calendar.
The Ninja Tune partnership is the latest step in a wider business transition. Caillet is currently moving from "Chloé the DJ" to "Chloé the artist", a shift that will culminate in her debut album. "It’s scary, because it’s vulnerable," she said. "I think a lot of us DJs hide up there behind the decks and express ourselves through a lot of machinery."
The debut single from the new EP, 'Lemme Dance', is produced with French musician MYD. By leaning into songwriting and instrumentation, Caillet is attempting to build a broader catalog that extends beyond traditional club sets, aiming for a longer-term footprint in the international music market.
