Snoop Dogg biopic confirmed for 2027 release
“After my brothers got to tell their story with Straight Outta Compton , now it’s my turn”
Details for the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic have been confirmed.
Titled Snoop , the film will arrive in cinemas on 6th August 2027 and is being billed as the “definitive biopic” of the US hip-hop icon. It will also be the first project to emerge from a deal between Death Row Pictures, Snoop Dogg’s film and television production company, and NBCUniversal Entertainment.
The film will be directed by Craig Brewer, who is revising an original screenplay by Joe Robert Cole. Jonathan “J.D.” Daviss, who starred in Outer Banks and Do Revenge , will portray Snoop Dogg.
The rapper first announced the film in April at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where he confirmed that production was already underway.
Speaking to the audience, Snoop Dogg said: “After my brothers got to tell their story with Straight Outta Compton , now it’s my turn.”
Last month, it was announced that Snoop Dogg and Tupac will appear as playable characters in SEGA’s upcoming video game, Stranger Than Heaven .
In January, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre sampled a single by UK learning disabilities charity Daylight Studio on their track, ‘Outta Da Blue’.
