Watch Robyn cover Erasure’s synth-pop ballad, ‘Always’
The Swedish star also performed three tracks from her recent album, ‘Sexistential’
Robyn has shared a new live session featuring a cover of Erasure’s ‘Always’.
Recorded for Jo Whiley’s Sofa Sessions at Maida Vale Studios with Lauren Laverne, the performance also featured tracks from the Swedish artist’s latest album ‘Sexistential’: ‘Sucker For Love’, ‘Talk to Me’, and ‘Dopamine’. You can watch clips from the session below.
Originally released in 1994 as the lead single from Erasure’s album ‘I Say I Say I Say’, ‘Always’ became one of the British synth-pop duo’s most recognisable songs. Robyn’s cover has received praise from listeners online , with one YouTube commenter writing: “Love this version... I’m not a fan of covers, but omg she did it justice,” while another described it as a “fabulous rendition”.
The live session follows Robyn’s recent BBC Radio 6 Music Artist in Residence: AAA mini-documentary, in which she spoke with Metronomy founder Joseph Mount about her new album. The film is available to watch via BBC iPlayer.
Released in March via Young, ‘Sexistential’ marked Robyn’s first full-length release since 2018’s ‘Honey’. She kicked off the album rollout with ‘ Dopamine ’, her first new single in over five years, with the track later remixed by Jamie xx .
On New Year's Eve 2025, Robyn debuted two more singles from ‘Sexistential’ during a show at Brooklyn Mirage , ‘Talk To Me’ and the title track, which was later remixed by Arca .
Speaking about the album in a statement at the time, Robyn said: “Exploring my sensual life is the same feeling as when I make a good song. It’s such a beautiful kind of sensitive vibration that takes so much work to keep afloat. I feel like the purpose of my life is to stay horny, it doesn’t even have to be about sex, but it’s feeling sensual and attracted to things that I enjoy, and not letting anything take over that.”
Earlier this month, Robyn’s ‘Body Talk’ album trilogy was released on double-vinyl .
