Fundraiser launched to support Jamaica Suk following cancer diagnosis
The Berlin-based techno DJ and producer is currently receiving medical treatment in an intensive care unit
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Berlin-based techno DJ and producer Jamaica Suk as she undergoes treatment for cancer.
The artist is currently receiving intensive care at a Berlin hospital after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of triple-negative breast cancer, which has spread to her spine and liver. As a touring musician, she has no income while she’s receiving treatment, and the medical situation has already led to significant financial strain.
Funds raised through the campaign, which was set up by her close friends, will help cover housing, medical insurance, studio costs and upcoming treatment expenses, allowing Suk to focus on her recovery.
Writing on the GoFundMe page, the artist’s friends explained: “Because Jamaica is a musician, her income doesn't exist without her being physically present. No stage, no work, no pay. And though Jamaica has asked the doctors about going back to tour, this won’t be medically possible soon. There is no sick leave or salary running for her in the background.”
