Peckham nightclub and bar TOLA was burgled earlier this week, the venue revealed in a statement on Instagram.
Sharing the news yesterday, August 27, the South London venue explained: "Unfortunately, we were broken into last night," but said that its team are "doing everything we can to stay open this weekend."
"As we all know, running a grassroots venue isn’t easy," the statement reads. "Hiccups like this really hit us where it hurts. We have a team to pay and parties to fulfil this weekend."
TOLA said that the burglars “got the lot”, including its stock of alcohol as well as the venue’s tech and card readers, meaning it will need to operate with a cash-only bar this coming weekend.
"We have moved heaven and earth to keep the doors open this weekend and not let promoters, our bookings, and our customers down last minute."
TOLA has asked attendees to support the venue by bringing cash to pay for drinks at this weekend’s events, which include a women’s-only DJ competition, a Carnival warm-up, and a Carnival afterparty.

"Come to the venue, bring cash and buy a drink," TOLA urged. "We only have two card readers until next week when our payment provider can deliver new ones."
The team behind the venue also asked attendees to "please be patient with staff" during this weekend's events and thanked TOLA’s community for its "continued support".
