New 600-capacity music venue from Apple Music to open in London this autumn

Apple Music has announced the launch of its first-ever live music venue, billed as a "state-of-the-art" concert hall opening at its West London headquarters.

According to BBC News , the 600-capacity Apple Music Hall is expected to open in "the coming weeks" after quietly being built below the music giant’s home, which is located within Battersea Power Station.

The venue is described as a space for major artists to perform “intimate” live shows for fans, each of which will be recorded and broadcast online for Apple Music customers.

Oliver Schusser, Apple Music’s vice president, has boasted that the venue features more cameras and speakers than "any venue of its size, anywhere in the world" in an interview with BBC News .

"We're not trying to be in the live business. We're not trying to compete with anyone," he says. "We have really no interest in trying to be in the way of anyone else, and that's one of the main reasons it's a smaller space."

In a press release , Schusser claims that Apple Music is "taking an unprecedented step further in our commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music in ways only Apple can do."

The venue, which sits along the River Thames, features a 38 ft-wide stage that can be "reconfigured for traditional front-facing sets or more in-the-round experiences", and features a 48-speaker spatial soundsystem.

The space also features new facilities such as rehearsal rooms and studios for Apple Music's radio stations, meaning they will move from their King’s Cross home to the new space at the Nine Elms-based HQ.

Further details around Apple Music Hall’s launch have yet to be shared, or any information on who will perform at the new venue when it opens.
