Musicians in the UK can now apply for up to £8,000 in funding to support tours across "small to medium-sized" venues.
The Featured Artists Coalition (FAC)’s UK Artist Touring fund recently saw an increase in support with the injection of £300,000 from LIVE Trust, who collected funds from the ongoing £1 ticket levy scheme introduced last year.
The FAC says it’s aiming to "plug genuine shortfalls and de-risk touring" for artists, and protect the UK’s "cultural infrastructure, deliver renewed vitality in the grassroots, and strengthen the pipeline of future talent".
Applications to the UK Artist Touring fund opened today, August 26, and will close on Friday, September 11. Applicants are encouraged to fill out a touring budget sheet.
According to the FAC, artists can "seek financial support of up to £8,000 for headline tours", and will be able to incorporate support slots, festival appearances, and unconfirmed gigs into that criteria.
The FAC also says that it wants to "ensure that genre, regional and cultural diversity can flourish while also supporting the development of new and existing audiences", increasing its support for artists based in the North East, Tees Valley and West Yorkshire.

The fund is supported by the voluntary ticket levy, which puts £1 per ticket from selected arena and stadium shows across the UK into grassroots music initiatives such as this.
The levy has so far injected contributions from shows by the likes of Basement Jaxx, Radiohead and Duran Duran into grassroots music funding, with £1.5 million distributed so far across the UK.
